This sweet, aromatic Lilac Sugar Scrub smells like a fresh bouquet of summer flowers. It’s made with only three ingredients—fresh lilac blossoms, sugar, and coconut oil—making it a super simple (but still luxurious!) DIY.

To make the scrub, we’ll begin by prepping a batch of lilac sugar. To make lilac sugar, simply alternate layers of sugar and fresh lilac blossoms in a jar, and let sit for one week to let the lilac infuse into the sugar.

After a week, simply stir some coconut oil into the lilac sugar. If you’d like, you can add a few drops of lilac essential oil to make the scrub an even stronger scent.

I love using this scrub for my hands, feet, and body (I find sugar scrubs are usually too abrasive to use on my face)—it exfoliates and moisturizes at the same time, and also leaves the light, intoxicating scent of lilac on my skin! For best results, store the scrub in the fridge when you’re not using it. It will keep in the fridge for at least a week! :)

Lilac Sugar Body Scrub

Makes 1 cup of body scrub

Ingredients:

To make:

  1. Grab a sealable jar (such as a mason or airtight jar). Scoop a thin, even layer of sugar into the jar. Sprinkle with a thin layer of lilac blossoms into the jar. Repeat, finishing with a layer of sugar on top.

  2. Leave the jar to sit in a cool, dry place for 1 week, shaking the jar throughout the week.

  3. If you’d like, use a mesh sieve to strain out the dried lilac blossoms (this step is optional!).

  4. Mix the coconut oil into the lilac sugar until well incorporated.

  5. If desired, add 10 drops of lilac essential oil to the mixture, depending on how strong you’d like the scent to be, and stir well to combine.

  6. Keep in a jar and store in the fridge up to one week. Enjoy!!
